Gold-Flecked Xuan Paper
Xuan paper sprinkled with gold flecks during forming, prized for calligraphy, invitations and binding.
Gold flecks or powder are scattered over the forming sheet, so every page's pattern differs, and ink plays against the gold in calligraphy. The absorbent xuan base suits brush work, single colour and stamping rather than fine screens; invitation work usually picks fine, dense flecks, and the sheet must be kept from damp and sun.
